Recycle Old Pajamas into Christmas Stockings
How to turn old PJ’s into new stockings!

This is what it looks like while the glitter puff paint is drying, once dry, the once faded design looks bold and beautiful!
I couldn’t part with these old Winnie-the-Pooh pajama pants that I’d worn since childhood. After paying a couple times for seamstresses to sew them back together, only to find more holes appearing everywhere, I knew I couldn’t wear them as pants again. So I decided to use them as a pillowcase for one of my stained pillows, and also to make two new Christmas stockings out of the legs. Ok, so bear in mind these stockings are not feet-shaped because I hate sewing and this was quick and easy. They are square-ish, all the better for stuffing goodies into!
You’ll need old pajamas (or any used pants), scissors, super glue, a stapler, glitter puff paints, and a cord, yarn, twine or something to hang the stockings up once they’re finished. I used the thread hooks from the insides of the pants (I’m not sure what they were supposed to be used for, but now they’ll be used!)
Here’s how I did it:
- Cut off the bottoms of both legs on the pajamas, as big or small as you’d like your stockings to be.
- On the part which was cut, fold each side inwards by tucking the ragged edge under, so it looks smooth on the outside.
- Crease each edge, and apply super glue followed by about 10 staples across the bottom (or, sew them by hand or use a sewing machine if you have one)
- Decorate the stockings by outlining the faded designs with glitter puff paint.
- Sew some sort of loop to one end of each opening, and hang them above the fireplace for Santa!
